Leonard Steckel

Leonard Steckel (born Leonhard Steckel January 18, 1901 in Knihinin, near present-day Ivano-Frankivsk, died near Aitrang, February 9, 1971) was a German actor and director of stage and screen. He began his career as a stage actor, and spent the duration of World War II in exile in Zürich, where he had gone to work at the Schauspielhaus. It was during this time that he began to direct. Steckel was killed in a train accident near Aitrang in 1971.
